The adult endotracheal tube is a flexible, hollow, plastic tube designed to be inserted into the trachea through the mouth or nose.
It comes in a range of sizes to accommodate different patient anatomies, typically from 6.0 mm to 9.0 mm internal diameter for adults.
The tube has an inflatable cuff near the distal end to create a seal within the trachea and prevent air leakage.
